Kingmaker: The App – Update 6

March 5, 2015

kingdom_mgr_map_zoom We did play this week, and there are session updates coming! But in the meantime, I was working on some user interface upgrades for the Kingdom Manager application, and everything came together much more quickly than I had planned. So, it’s time for another release! The big feature is the ability to zoom in and out on the hex map, which has been a much requested addition. The user can also display the names for cities on the hex map, and the names of buildings in settlements, which was another common request. There’s also some miscellaneous new features and a few bug fixes. The latest version is 0.9.3.0.

Features

    • Map zoom! When viewing a map in the main window, the view can be zoomed in and out by using the new “+” and “-” buttons in the upper-left corner of the map.
    • In the map window, the width/height of the hexes on a map can now be expressed as a decimal number. This allows for a better correlation of the application’s hex grid to the underlying image.
    • It is now possible to delete settlement districts, settlements, maps, and foreign kingdoms from a kingdom. Be VERY careful with these features!
      • Districts can be deleted using the Settlement -> Districts menu. It is not possible to delete the last district in a settlement; i.e. there must always be at least one district present.
      • Settlements can be deleted using the Kingdom -> Settlements menu.
      • Maps can be deleted using the Kingdom -> Maps menu. Any settlements located on the map will be deleted as well!
      • Foreign Kingdoms can be deleted by selecting a foreign power from the roster and pressing the ‘Delete’ key.
      • This isn’t new, but just a reminder that Characters can be deleted by selecting the character from the roster and pressing the ‘Delete’ key.
    • There are a number of new campaign settings, which can be accessed by DMs from the Campaign menu.
      • Drawing.HexMap.Icon.SizeRatio: this setting controls the size of the feature icons on the map view. Larger values will cause larger icons in relation to the size of the hex.
      • Drawing.HexMap.Text.Display: the value of this setting controls whether or not the names of settlements and free cities are displayed in the map view.
      • Drawing.HexMap.Text.Color: this setting controls the color of the city name text in the map view.
      • Drawing.Settlement.Text.Display: the value of this setting controls whether building names are not displayed, names are displayed, building types (e.g. “Castle”) are displayed, or both names and types are displayed in the settlement view.
      • Drawing.Settlement.Text.Color: this setting controls the color of the building name/type text in the settlement view.

Bug Fixes

    • Fixed an issue with Shrines, Temples, and Cathedrals where their bonus values were getting reset when opening a kingdom. Users may wish to check their Shrines, Temples, and Cathedrals to ensure that the bonus values are correct. If they are not, they can be fixed by changing the building’s alignment to “Unaligned” and then changing it back to its intended value. Sorry about that!
    • Fixed a minor issue in the map window when defining a new foreign kingdom. The sample hexes should now display properly.
    • Fixed a minor issue in the map window where the map image panel did not properly change sizes when the window was resized.
