More Fun With Hero Forge, Now in Color!

October 16, 2020

Towards the end of the Kingmaker campaign, I discovered Hero Forge, a site that allows you to construct miniatures out of pre-fab bits and poses; once you’ve finished you can either have the design 3D printed or 3D print it yourself. Or do what I do and just take a screenshot. We don’t play with miniatures these days but it’s still a fun tool for character visualization purposes. And now it’s in color! With handy pre-fab color schemes! And you can add flames and such to your weapons! The pre-fab color schemes, while somewhat hideous overall, are handy for getting the figure’s colors in the ballpark before adjusting to taste.

With these new features, I went back and “painted” the formerly drab designs I had made for the Kingmaker cast:

And a new one for the Queen of Forgotten Time, using the new spell effects:

I also went and colored the designs that I and the other players had made for the current Tales of the Yawning Portal campaign, both at the start of The Sunless Citadel and at the start of The Forge of Fury (Theodoric had gotten some upgrades in The Sunless Citadel):

And here’s is a sneak peek of what is coming down the road:

But before that, we will be traveling slightly off the beaten path with the Tales characters!

  1. Not sure why, but I’d imagined Theodoric with a huge full beard :-/
